Feather Farm

Stanhoe - Norfolk

Feather Farm is an excellent example to show how the design process, manufacturing and installation all work in harmony to create the finished piece and the secret pantry. This is how we did it...

Kitchen - Secret Pantry - Coffee Station

Feather Farm was originally an old listed farmhouse. The front façade was the listed element of the house and was the only remainder of the original house. The architect used the opportunity to create contemporary additions, most of which were curved! The curved island seating area was designed to bring a coherency to the kitchen and its context. Our client favoured a style based around bold colour choices and in particular requested that we find a way to bring the colour Charlottes Locks by Farrow and Ball into the overall design. We did...

Designing the Kitchen

Here we use the very first site visit or initial plans of the building (site visit in this case) to gain an understanding of the space and the people that will be using it. We then draft an initial 2D plan with elevations. Once tweaks have been made to initial plans we look at colour and texture palettes based on our clients feedback. The next stage is to use all of the information and build 3D renders of the space.

Manufacture, Delivery and Installation

When the drawings and 3D visuals have been signed off it is time start the manufacture. The workshop will receive the manufacturing drawing package and the first cuts are made. On site the electricians and plumbers will be sent the relevant M and E drawings so they can commence their first fix too. Once everything is made it will go into the spray shop to be painted or oiled depending on its specified finish. When all items are cured they are assembled and dressed ready for packing for delivery. Our installation team take it from here, floors are fully protected and the protection sealed at the joints to stop debris getting underneath. Setting out is the next step and is followed by the carefully considered installation.
